Will I Invite You To My Party?
I'm not sure. What have you done for me lately?
Eva, a bright-eyed five-year-old, sat on the kitchen table, her crayons scattered across the paper as she painstakingly drew a picture of her upcoming birthday party. Her excitement bubbled over as she announced to her mother, “Mommy, I want to invite everyone in my class and all my family to my birthday party!”
Her mother, a warm and gentle woman, smiled and knelt beside Eva. “Sweetheart,” she began, “I know you want to invite everyone, but you’re turning six, and it’s a special day. You get to choose what you want to celebrate and with whom you want to celebrate it.”
Eva furrowed her tiny brow, deep in thought. “Well, Mommy,” she pondered, “I love painting, and I love my best friend Lily-Mae. Can I celebrate my birthday by painting with Lily-Mae?”
Her mother’s eyes lit up with pride. “That’s a wonderful idea, Eva! You can invite Lily-Mae and a few other friends to paint with you on your birthday. It will be a day filled with colors and creativity, just how you like it.”
Eva beamed with delight, realizing that sometimes, the best celebrations come from the heart and the people who truly matter.
